We quoted the approved semaglutide pill at a flat $149. It is a ladder, and maintenance is $299

Novo Nordisk's own price guide sets the oral tablet at $149 for 1.5 and 4 mg and $299 for the 9 and 25 mg maintenance doses. We published the starter figure as the price of treatment.

On 3 August we published a comparison built on a single figure: that an FDA-approved oral semaglutide tablet costs $149 a month, about $154 a month at a maintenance dose above the cheapest compounded programme we have captured at $145.

Reading Novo Nordisk's own price guide on 4 August, that is the price of the 1.5 and 4 mg doses. The 9 and 25 mg maintenance doses are $299. The $149 rate on 4 mg runs only to 31 August 2026, after which it becomes $199.

So at a maintenance dose the approved pill is about $154 a month above the cheapest compounded programme, not about $154 a month at a maintenance dose.

Two details worth carrying forward: the savings offer is capped at $100 a month, so it does not reduce a large copay to $25 in every case; and the intro rates are time-limited, one of them expiring in under four weeks.
